Thanksgiving

Our cute little Indians learned about the letter I and Thanksgiving this week.  As you can tell, they had a good time.
Suzanne hosted this week's preschool and did a lot of really fun activities.  I'm never certain what really goes on when it comes from my own daughter's mouth, Camryn, but she told me they roasted hot dogs, gummy bears, gummy fish, carrots, and apples on their little fire.  Sounds fun!

October 18, 2012: Letter E and Colors & Shapes

Our theme was Colors and Shapes and the Letter of the Week was Letter E. After reading about all the E things "Little E" found to put in his box, we had an Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard. Makena even put some in Jojo's basket while he was searching for eggs.:)

When we opened the eggs, some were filled with pictures of things starting with the letter E, such as eagle, elephant, etc.  We practiced writing the Letter E and making it with Popsicle sticks, too. Everyone did a really great job!
We had a great time talking about shapes and colors. Carson even taught us a Rainbow song that he knew. We used the blocks to divide them into groups of the same shapes, then scattered them and grouped all the same colors together. I was so impressed with these smart kiddos!
We had an exciting science project using colors! First we took turns dropping food coloring into cups of vinegar. We even mixed some colors together to make green and orange, but guess what? Camryn reminded me that we can make purple if we mix red and blue together! She said her mom taught her that.:) After we had all our colors ready, we used the droppers to drop the colored vinegar onto our plates of baking soda and watched it fizz and bubble up! They thought it sounded like the ocean.

Letter F and a Frightening Halloween Party

 Trick or Treat!
Who wouldn't want to give this group candy?  Tanner was a Baseball player, JoJo a bear, Makena a Spider lady, and Camryn was Tinkerbell.  After learning Halloween safety the kids were able to pratice their skills while trick or treating some neighbors.  It was the highlight of the day.
The kids learned all about the Letter F.
They put things that started with the letter F things inside a box and then made Fruit Loop necklaces.
Not many little Fruit Loops made it on the yarn...it was too tempting to just eat them.  They kept pointing out all the ones with defects and then said, "oh, I guess I'll have to eat this one."  Smart kids!

They also made Freaky Ghosts to take home and decorate their rooms!  Very Frightening!!!

Pumpkin Patch

Linder Farm Pumpkin Patch was so much fun!  Here are just a few of the highlights...
Who would have ever thoughts that a box full of corn kernals could be so much fun!  I think it was better than sand because you didn't have the mess.

Each of the kids took a turn sliding down the "tube slide"! It was pretty fast kind of bumpy as they landed in a pile of hay at the bottom.

And of coarse, they each got to they picked their own pumpkin!

D Day! Along with Sharing!

We had a Dang fun D-Day!  We learned a lot of the letter D as well as how to be good friends and share.  These kids are so fun!
We started our D day out by being D animals: Ducks, Dinosaurs, Dragons, and Dogs. We marched around the house like all of these animals. Then we moved on to Dotting our D's!
JoJo and Tanner both seemd pleased with the D's they got to Dot!

Carson was so smart. He reminded each of the kids throughout the day what the leter D says!
For snack we got to eat Donuts! Favorite for everyone, expect Tanner, who said he didn't want his so the other kids gladly shared it. Which fit in perfectly with the next part of our day!
We got to read one of my favorite books "The Rainbow Fish". For those of you who don't know the story...it's about a beautiful fish with glimmering scales.  He is asked by another fish to share his scale, but he doesn't want to. The fish soon finds himself without friends and very lonely.  The Rainboow fish learns to share his glimmering scales with all the fish in the ocean and learns that he has friends instead!  The kids were asked how they can be friends. They gave some great responses. Then, we made Rainbow fish with glimmering scales to take home and remind us to share!

"B" Day!

B is for Bugs and Butterflies and Bumble Bees!!!
Carson, Makena, Camryn, Joseph, Anson and Tanner hold up an item that begins with the letter B that they chose from our Brown paper Bag.

Gluing Beans, Buttons & balloons to our letter Bb on black paper

They each did such a great job and worked so hard at their projects!
Anson had a blast Building with Boxes!

 Carson plays in the box
Camryn and Makena also had fun climbing and crawling through the tunnels we created.

On to snack time... we buttered our own bread and ate bananas.

I was impressed with how many kids chose wheat bread!

Then we turned some into cinnamon toast which everyone loved!
We went on a Bug hunt outside and look what we found!

Tanner loved playing outside.

The kids gluing their butterfly and bee wings

Everyone helped pour the ingredients for our bubbles

Oh, and we also talked a little about how butterflies are symmetrical. Obviously didn't catch on enough to implement in their own butterfly wing creations... ;)
What a blast we had!
